This Policy applies to students, parents/guardians, institute owners/admins, visitors, and anyone whose information we receive in connection with our services — including contact details shared when you inquire about a school, college, coaching class, or preschool, or when an institute lists itself on VidhyaNex.

This Policy is subject to our Terms of Service. By using the Platform, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. What VidhyaNex does

VidhyaNex helps students and parents discover, compare, shortlist, and inquire about educational institutes in India. We also help schools, colleges, coaching centres, and preschools connect with interested students and manage listings, leads, and reviews.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you provide

• Account details — name, email, phone/WhatsApp number, password, and profile information when you register or sign in (including Google Sign-In).
• Student profile — education preferences, city/location interest, goals, and other details you choose to add.
• Inquiries & counselling requests — messages and contact details you send to institutes through the Platform.
• Reviews & feedback — ratings, written reviews, and related content you submit.
• Institute / owner data — institute profile content, fees, facilities, faculty, media, documents, and owner contact details submitted during registration or updates.
• Support communications — emails, calls, or WhatsApp messages you send to our support team.

3.2 Information collected automatically

• Device, browser, OS, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and app/version identifiers.
• Usage logs such as pages viewed, searches, filters, compare lists, favourites, and click activity.
• Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies used for login sessions, preferences (e.g. language), analytics, and improving the Platform.
• Push notification tokens (when you allow notifications on the mobile app).

3.3 Information from third parties

• Google account basic profile (name, email, profile photo) when you use Google Sign-In.
• Institute-related information publicly available or provided by partner institutes.
• Service providers who help us host, analyse, email, or send notifications.

4. How we use your information

• Create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
• Show relevant institute listings, search results, recommendations, and comparisons.
• Share your inquiry/contact details with institutes you show interest in (for example, by submitting an inquiry, requesting a callback, or applying through the Platform).
• Enable reviews, favourites, compare lists, and profile features.
• Send service messages, OTP/password reset emails, admission-related alerts, and (where permitted) promotional updates. You may opt out of marketing where available.
• Operate institute-owner tools (listings, leads, documents, dashboards).
• Improve Platform performance, fix bugs, prevent fraud/abuse, and comply with law.
• Send push notifications you have opted into on the mobile app.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it only as needed for our services:

• With educational institutes — when you inquire, shortlist interest is expressed through an inquiry/action, or an institute reasonably needs details to respond to your request. How an institute uses your data after receiving it is governed by that institute’s own practices; VidhyaNex is not responsible for their independent use.
• With service providers — hosting, email (e.g. transactional mail), analytics, cloud, Firebase messaging, and similar processors acting on our instructions.
• For legal reasons — to comply with law, court orders, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the Platform.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or reorganization, subject to appropriate safeguards.
• With your consent — wherever you expressly agree to additional sharing.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences (such as language), measure traffic, and improve features. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect login or certain Platform features.

7. Children’s privacy

VidhyaNex is intended for students and parents exploring education options. If you are under 18 (or under the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you should use the Platform under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data from young children for commercial exploitation. Parents/guardians may contact us to review or request deletion of a minor’s account information where applicable.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including account operation, dispute resolution, security, and legal/accounting requirements. When no longer required, we delete or anonymise data in a reasonably secure manner.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards aligned with applicable Indian law (including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules thereunder) to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please protect your password and notify us of suspected unauthorised access.

10. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

• Access and update profile information from your account settings.
• Request correction, deletion, or restriction of processing where legally available.
• Withdraw consent for optional processing (e.g. marketing or push notifications) without affecting required service processing.
• Contact us to exercise privacy-related requests.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests and may decline requests that are unlawful, excessive, or would prevent us from providing the service or meeting legal obligations.

11. Third-party links and institute sites

The Platform may link to institute websites, maps, social media, payment pages, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are not controlled by VidhyaNex. Please review their policies separately.

12. Cross-border processing

Our primary operations are in India. Some service providers may process data on servers outside India. Where such transfers occur, we take reasonable steps consistent with applicable law to protect your information.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Platform after changes means you accept the updated Policy, except where consent is required by law.

14. Disclaimer

VidhyaNex aggregates education-related information to help users research options. We are not a government body and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any government education board or authority unless expressly stated. Institute details are sourced from institutes, public sources, and user contributions; we strive for accuracy but do not guarantee completeness of every listing.

We are not liable for disclosure of information caused by your sharing of credentials, third-party misuse outside our reasonable control, or institute handling of data shared with them at your request.
